Morning Dog Walker & Pet Sitter

Charleston, SC
Part Time
Dog Walker
Student (College)

Your morning appointments will include someone who’s thrilled you’re here and someone who would like to speak to your manager about breakfast. Neither can operate a door, so you have some leverage.

Charleston Dog Walker is hiring part-time dog walkers and pet sitters for morning visits. We’ve been caring for local pets since 2015. If a happy dog, a quiet walk, and a cat who eventually forgives you sound like a good start to your day, we’d love to meet you.

They have a morning routine. You make it happen.

You’ll provide walks, potty breaks, feeding, fresh water, medications as instructed, and cat care—including litter cleanup.

You notice when a dog seems off, a water bowl needs washing, or the feeding instructions don’t match what’s on the counter. You ask questions and check with your manager instead of guessing. A convincing speech from a hungry Labrador does not count as updated feeding instructions.

A few things need to line up:

  • Your schedule: You’re consistently available from 7–9 a.m. on at least three weekdays. Available Monday–Friday? Even better. Morning-only availability is welcome; additional midday, evening, or weekend hours are a bonus.
  • Your location: You currently live in James Island, Downtown Charleston, Johns Island, Folly Beach, or Avondale. Address eligibility is confirmed during hiring; commuting from outside our service area doesn’t qualify. You’ll drive between homes and may receive assignments throughout the service area.
  • Your plans: You want ongoing work for at least six months, ideally much longer, and enjoy the idea of becoming a familiar, trusted person in the pets’ lives.

Independent visits. Actual human backup.

You’ll finish each visit by making sure pets are comfortable, securing the home, and sending a brief update and photos so clients know how their pets are doing.

We provide training, including online Pet Emergency Care certification, plus ongoing management support. You’ll complete visits independently, with a team to contact when you have questions or concerns. We schedule assignments within your stated availability.

Pay and Practical Details

  • $11 for each 30-minute visit, plus tips and mileage reimbursement between visits.
  • Morning schedules generally include one to three visits on days you’re assigned work.
  • For example, two 30-minute visits each morning, Monday–Friday, would earn $110 in weekly visit pay, plus tips and mileage reimbursement. Actual schedules and earnings vary.
  • Part-time W-2 employment, with payroll twice monthly.
  • You’ll need a reliable vehicle, driver’s license, insurance, and phone, plus a background check before onboarding.

Apply below. You could become the second-most exciting thing to happen every morning. We’d promise first, but we’ve seen how they look at breakfast.
