Charleston Dog Walker

Have a few hours free in the middle of your weekdays and wish you had a reason to get outside, move around, and hang out with dogs?

Charleston Dog Walker is looking for a reliable, independent person to join our team for weekday dog walks and pet care visits.

This can be an especially great fit if you work remotely or freelance, have kids in school, work evenings, are semi-retired, or simply have a schedule that leaves your middays open.

We're not a gig app. You'll be a W-2 employee and part of an established local pet care company with training, support, and a team behind you. We handle the clients, scheduling, and payments. You get to focus on taking great care of the pets.
 

The Schedule

Our greatest need is Monday through Friday during the middle of the day, with most of our visits taking place between late morning and early afternoon.

We're looking for someone with consistent weekday availability between approximately 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. You don't necessarily need to be available every weekday, but the more consistent your availability is, the more we can schedule you.

There are also opportunities to pick up additional pet sitting visits in the mornings, evenings, weekends, and on holidays if you'd like more hours.
 

What You'll Actually Be Doing

During your scheduled time, you'll drive between clients' homes and spend one-on-one time with their pets. You'll:

• Walk dogs and provide potty breaks, playtime, meals, medications, and other care
• Follow each pet's individual routine and detailed care instructions
• Send clients a journal and photos after each visit
• Keep an eye out for anything unusual and communicate with our management team when needed
• Travel between homes in our Charleston service area, including Downtown, James Island, Johns Island, Avondale, and Folly Beach

You'll work independently during your visits, so this is a great role for someone who enjoys autonomy and doesn't need a traditional workplace around them.
 

What We're Looking For

You don't need professional pet care experience, but you do need to be someone we can count on.

You'll probably thrive here if you:

• Are dependable, organized, and good at managing your time
• Genuinely enjoy animals and are comfortable with dogs of different sizes and personalities
• Pay attention to details and follow instructions carefully
• Communicate clearly and professionally
• Are comfortable working independently and solving small problems as they come up
• Don't mind being outside in Charleston weather
• Are comfortable using your phone for schedules, directions, photos, and visit updates
• Have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and auto insurance
• Can pass a background check
• Have a schedule that you expect to remain fairly consistent and are looking for something you can stick with for at least 6 months, ideally much longer

• Pay averages approximately $11 per 30-minute visit
• Mileage reimbursement between visits

The number of visits varies based on your availability, location, and our clients' schedules.
